米アカデミー賞・長編ドキュメンタリー映画賞のノミネート作品を決めるためのショートリストに、ジャーナリスト・伊藤詩織さんの初監督作品『Black Box Diaries』が選ばれた。
この作品をめぐっては、伊藤さんの性被害訴訟で代理人をつとめた西廣陽子弁護士らが「この映画の中で承諾のない映像や音声が使われている」「取材源秘匿や事実上の公益通報者を守っておらず、人権侵害にあたる映像が公開され続けることには問題がある」として内容の変更を求めている。
伊藤詩織さん側は、指摘された内容は「不正確」で「伊藤さんの名誉を毀損するおそれがある」としている。

Journalist Shiori Ito's film "Black Box Diaries", which details her own sexual assault by a prominent Japanese reporter, has been nominated for Best Documentary Feature Film at the upcoming Oscars on March 3.
But it has come to be embroiled in a deepening debate over ethical and legal issues. Ito's own former attorneys say that the documentary cannot be screened as it currently is within Japan's borders given that it will cause "irreparable harm". This is because, they allege, Ito has failed to protect her sources by using unauthorised security footage and audio without prior approval from those who can be identified in the film, and for using court-protected material.
